Pesquisa CIEE/Instituto Locomotiva mostra que dificuldades com matemática, altos custos e interesse por outras áreas afastam estudantes dos cursos de Engenharia |

Engenheiros desempenham papel fundamental em setores estratégicos da sociedade, como infraestrutura, energia, tecnologia e indústria. No entanto, dados da Confederação Nacional da Indústria (CNI) indicam que o Brasil enfrenta uma crise na formação desses profissionais, com um déficit estimado em 75 mil engenheiros. Nesse contexto, o Centro de Integração Empresa-Escola (CIEE), que há 61 anos atua na inclusão de jovens na economia produtiva, encomendou ao Instituto Locomotiva uma pesquisa nacional para compreender a percepção dos jovens sobre a área de Engenharia. O levantamento, realizado com 1.150 estudantes do Ensino Médio, trouxe números inéditos e preocupantes: apenas 12% demonstram interesse em cursar Engenharia — o que equivale a cerca de 2,3 milhões de jovens no Brasil, segundo estimativas baseadas na PNAD 2024. Um dado que chama atenção é que mais de um terço dos entrevistados afirmam sentir insegurança com matérias que envolvem matemática. A pesquisa também aponta um grave problema educacional: 79% dos estudantes acreditam que falhas na educação básica desmotivam o início ou a continuidade de cursos de graduação. Entre aqueles que pretendem cursar Engenharia, as dificuldades financeiras e o interesse por outras áreas aparecem como principais motivos para uma possível desistência.
