O Flamengo estreou com vitória na Copa do Mundo de Clubes ao bater o Espérance de Tunis por 2 a 0 na noite desta segunda-feira (16), no Lincoln Financial Field, na Filadélfia. Com gols de Arrascaeta e Luiz Araújo, o clube brasileiro somou os primeiros três pontos e lidera o Grupo D.

A equipe comandada por Filipe Luís controlou a maior parte da partida, especialmente no primeiro tempo, quando impôs forte marcação e criou as principais chances de gol. O time tunisiano ofereceu pouca resistência na etapa inicial, mas esboçou reação no segundo tempo, exigindo atenção do sistema defensivo rubro-negro.

Com a vitória, o Flamengo se iguala ao Chelsea em pontos, mas assume a liderança do grupo pelo critério disciplinar, com menor número de cartões amarelos.

O próximo compromisso do Flamengo na competição será na sexta-feira (15), às 15h (horário de Brasília), diante do Chelsea, em confronto direto pela líderança do grupo.
