Acolhimento a pessoas em situação de rua cresce no Rio

O Rio de Janeiro registra, em média, 156 acolhimentos diários de pessoas em situação de rua. Apesar do aumento, especialistas apontam que o acesso à saúde, ao emprego e à dignidade continua sendo fundamental para a reconstrução de vidas.

Nesta terça-feira (19), quando é celebrado o Dia Nacional de Luta da População em Situação de Rua, movimentos sociais realizaram um ato pacífico na escadaria da Câmara Municipal, na Cinelândia. O protesto foi organizado pelo Fórum de Defesa dos Direitos da População em Situação de Rua e teve como objetivo cobrar o fim do preconceito e da violência em operações urbanas que, segundo os organizadores, chegam a confiscar os pertences dessas pessoas.

Entre os que vivem nas ruas da região está Monique de Souza, de 48 anos. Ela divide espaço em uma marquise da Cinelândia com o marido e a cadela Pantera. Sem residência fixa há mais de uma década, Monique relata que perdeu os pais ainda jovem e, desde então, enfrenta dificuldades para se reinserir na sociedade.
